Compassionate Immigration Lawyers in Fairfax & Washington D.C.
For more than 20 years, our immigration lawyers have helped non-citizens who suffered abuse by a U.S. spouse, parent, or child find safety and a pathway to lawful status.
Our founder—a Canadian immigrant who personally received her green card through VAWA before becoming a U.S. citizen—understands firsthand the fear, uncertainty, and hope involved in this process. Inspired by her journey, we established our dedicated VAWA legal team in 2002 with one mission: to educate non-citizens on their rights and provide a safe exit from abusive or toxic relationships.
What is VAWA?
The Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) is a powerful protection under U.S. immigration law that allows abused non-citizen spouses of U.S. citizens or permanent residents, abused children of U.S. citizens or permanent residents, and abused parents of U.S. citizen children to self-petition for a green card through the Form I-360 Special Immigrant Petition—without relying on their abuser to file. This process is confidential and protects applicants from retaliation or control by the abusive family member.
